Multimedia storytelling
I created this photo story in my Creating Multimedia Content class. I chose to do a quirky story on my teddy bear named Steeler. I used Photoshop to edit and enhance the photos, and edited the photos together using Premiere. This is my first time using video editing software.
This photo story is full of medium and close-up shots. The close up shots show the detail in Steeler, while the medium shots move the story along. This assignment taught me how to edit shots together and effectively tell a story without motion. |
This video to the right is a mini documentary. Many of my friends are either Americans who have lived in many places overseas, or they are international students who have done the same. This documentary explores their experiences as 'third culture kids.'
As a print journalist, I was able to employ many of my interview skills to get to the heart of these students' life experiences. Instead of writing out their stories, they were able to tell it themselves. I now have a new journalistic skill with the production of this mini-documentary. |

This documentary explores the intricate ties between culture, food and identity in the Andean region of Latin America traditionally seen as Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador. The video is entirely in Spanish with English translations by me. It makes connections at a local and global level from local holiday traditions and national pride to the United Nations declaring 2013 the Year of Quinoa, a grain only grown in the high mountainous region that has made its way into supermarkets around the world.
